Dr. Michelle Kwok is a visiting assistant teaching professor here at W&M. She's a talented conductor, vocalist, and music educator from Hong Kong, recognized for her artistry and choral excellence. She earned her Doctorate of Music in Choral Conducting from Indiana University, as well as degrees from Westminister Choir College (with Distinction) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This will be Dr. Kwok's first year teaching at W&M and with the Barksdale Treble Chorus - we're so happy to have her here this year!

Dr. Kwok was named 2nd runner-up of the 2024 American Prize in Conducting: The Dale Warland Award, and has led performances in Italy, the U.S., Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Her recent conducting engagements include Vaughan William's Dona Nobis Pacem, Bach's Jesu, meine Freude, Fauré’s Requiem, Candeile’s Catherine ou la Belle Fermière, and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. Moreover, Dr. Kwok has premiered works by living composers, including Daniel Cui’s Jasmine Flower, Thejas Mirle’s A Sighing Mist, Jin Cheng-zhi’s Farewell (Cantonese Version), and Elby Kwok’s Reborn.
