Meet the Director

 

Dr. Jamie C. Bartlett is an Associate Professor of Music and the Associate Director of Choirs at The College of William and Mary where she recently concluded a five year term as currently Chair of the Department of Music. A native of Massachusetts, she holds an A.B. in Music from Mount Holyoke College, a M.M in choral conducting from The Eastman School of Music and a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting with a minor in Musicology from The University of Wisconsin – Madison. At William and Mary, she conducts the Barksdale Treble Chorus and the select Botetourt Chamber Singers. She also teaches beginning and advanced conducting, Eurhythmics, and introductory theory classes. 

 

At William and Mary, Bartlett’s ensembles perform extensively on and off campus with as many as 50 concerts per year. The Bots also undertake an international tour every three years with the W&M Choir. In 2005, 2007, 2011, and 2016 they were selected to perform at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference as the featured choir in the college division. A frequent adjudicator, Dr. Bartlett has served as a clinician and guest conductor in several states across the country. Active as a church musician, she is currently the Director of Music at the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists where she directs the 45-voice adult choir. In her spare time she teaches indoor cycling classes.She is married to Jamie Armstrong, Director of Choirs at William and Mary, and together they are the proud parents of two children, Robert, 23, and Caecilia, 21.
